Week 17

I was sick for about half the week so I didn’t get as much done as I usually do.

Language Arts: I finished my essay on how optimism benefits health. I finished reading The Art of Racing in the Rain. I reviewed coordinating conjunctions and subordinating conjunctions.

Math: Our math tutor couldn’t make it this week because he had food poisoning. I kept working on lessons from the math book.

Science: We got our MEL Chemistry starter kit. It has a 360 degree viewer so we played around with that a bit.

History: I didn’t do history this week.

Makerspace (Tech):  We did some more sewing. We are making blocks for a quilt.

Programming (Elective): At Lego League we worked on finishing up some missions. We also decided on our mascot for this year. It’s a unicorn platypus.

Other: I had a basketball game. I also had a guitar recital that was a Christmas singalong. It was kind of crazy with so many guitars but it was fun.

Week 16

Language Arts: I did the language arts lessons in my program. I wrote the first body paragraph for the essay on how optimism affects our physical health. I am still reading The Art of Racing in the Rain. I did some TTRS typing/spelling practice. I am currently memorizing the poem Trees.

Math: I finished the unit 2 tests. I got through chapter 20 in the textbook. With Mr. Rosa we went over a lot of different things but one of them we covered again was solving a set of equations using the substitution method or the elimination method.

Science: I am working on a gear box made from Legos. I have made a couple of different versions so far. There is a boomerang video below of it but it doesn’t show how you can switch between gears.

History: In my co-op history class we learned about Davy Crockett. In the We Didn’t Start the Fire song it mentions the name but doesn’t specify whether it is talking about the person or the tiny nuclear missile. We learned about the Davy Crockett show and listened to the theme song from the show.

Makerspace (Tech):  We did machine sewing. We sewed some designs on pieces of fabric and I also made a very tiny pillow just to practice with the machine.

Programming (Elective): This week at First Lego League I worked on making one of the tools we we already created be able to complete two missions at once. One of them is Escape Velocity and we made the run for that also complete the mission Observatory.

Other: I am working with a basketball trainer named Coach Buddha and we met this week and worked on shooting and fine-tuning different aspects of my shots to improve them. For guitar we are working on Christmas songs some more because we have a recital coming up. I also taught myself how to play (with a video) Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes.

Weeks 14 & 15

Language Arts: I did some lessons in my Language Arts program. One of the assignments was to research points about how being optimistic improves our lives. I am reading The Art of Racing in the Rain. It is written from the dog’s perspective and it is an interesting book. I finished Marley & Me and I really liked it.

Math: We worked on exponents and square roots and how to convert between the two. I did two of the Unit 2 tests and some of the lessons from the textbook.

Science: We did an experiment where we observed reactions. Everyone had different reactions and some got hotter than others. We measured the temperature every minute for 5 minutes. Some people’s got cold and some got hot. We watched the Mars Insight landing at home with the family. A few years ago my dad took us to a Curiosity rover viewing party at the University of Utah and some of the stuff was similar to this one. We also went to the BYU Paleontology museum for a field trip.

History: In my co-op history class we learned about polyester and how it was introduced as a sort of magical wonder fabric that doesn’t need ironing and doesn’t get wrinkled, but it wasn’t very comfortable so now it is used more for things like boat sales and less for clothes.

Makerspace (Tech):  This week I didn’t really get to do anything because I am still trying to get my thing cut out. I mostly helped my friend with their project.

Programming (Elective): During the break we didn’t have Lego League so my brother and Dad and I went and worked on stuff by ourselves for a few hours. It was really nice because some of the kids on the team are mostly just distractions who get into stuff and cause problems. We got one mission to work really well. I also did a custom paint job on one of my nerf guns. I painted it silver and then did the dipping technique to add black.

Other: We had our first basketball game of Winter League and we won. I am doing some private training with a coach from one of the high schools who happens to be a good friend of my uncle Adam. Our co-op teen group went to an escape room for our monthly activity and we beat the room with 5 minutes to spare. Then we went to The Chocolate dessert cafe for treats. It was fun.

Week 13

Language Arts: I did my dyslexia workbook lessons. I learned 8 ways to start an introductory paragraph. I did some editing practice on a couple of passages with mistakes. I am reading Marley & Me.

Math: In our math class we went over powers and how to switch back and forth between roots and powers. We also worked on the Unit 2 packet so we could see if we had any trouble areas. We reviewed Order of Operations and saw how switching the order can change the answer.

Science: In chemistry class we learned about balancing equations. For our science lesson at home we learned about center of gravity, did some experiments/activities and watched some videos that talked about it. One fun thing we did was figure out how to balance a potato on a glass edge by using two forks as the counterbalances.

History: In my We Didn’t Start the Fire class we talked about Gamal Abdel Nasser Hussein who was the second president of Egypt and how he worked to modernize Egypt. Last week in that class we talked about Stalin.

Makerspace (Tech):  We did woodcutting this week. I made a batman charm for a necklace. My wooden puzzle didn’t work so I am going to try it again.

Programming (Elective): I didn’t work on this this week. I need to figure out what projects to work on.  A couple weeks ago I painted my ripstik silver. It turned out really good. I put a topcoat on it so it will hopefully stay nice looking for a while.

Videos we watched to go along with our science lesson

Week 12

Language Arts: I reviewed commas in a series. I finished reading Wednesday Wars. I wrote a paragraph about why I like homeschooling. I learned about personification and had to write some examples of personification about a nature scene. I also wrote a paragraph about how I would not want to spend a summer with any of the characters from books I have read lately.

Math: I worked on chapters from the textbook. In our class we went over exponents and how to rewrite negative exponents as positive exponents.

Science: In my chemistry class we made slime. We talked about different polymers and non-newtonian fluids. At home for science we finished up our discussion on flight and learned about birds and how they fly, and how it wouldn’t be possible for humans to fly with self-powered flight. We weight too much and don’t have the right kinds of muscles (big enough) in the right places. Birds have other adaptations for flight as well, including a keel (breastbone) to attach big muscles to, a fused backbone area, hollow bones, and no teeth.

History: We listened to the next podcast. It was about Sargon and how he created the first empire that we know of. He wrote an autobiography that said how great he was. The story goes that he was put into a basket as a baby, a lot like the Moses story.

Makerspace (Tech):  This week I designed some things that I am going to laser cut. They will be keychains or little trinket things. They will be made out of a thin wood, I can’t remember the name of it right now.

Programming (Elective): I am trying to drill a hole in metal but am not having any luck. I looked up info online but none of the different techniques have worked. I am not sure if I just don’t have the right drill bit or if I am doing something else wrong. I also had First Lego League this week. We are working on rebuilding a mission that some kid broke. My friend Heber and I worked on another mission finalizing the attachment parts to accomplish the task.

Saturday, November 3, 2018

Week 11

Language Arts: I learned about mood and tone in poetry. I finished the third Star Man’s Son book. There is a fourth one coming out sometime soon, I think, but I wish it was already out. I did more lessons in my dyslexia workbook. I did some sentence diagramming.

Math: I worked on the Unit 1 packet and took the test. In class we went over calculating surface area on 3D rectangular shapes.

Science: I learned about solutes and solvents. A solvent is a substance that dissolves another substance and a solute is something that dissolves in a solvent.

History: We didn’t have a history lesson this week.

Makerspace (Tech):  In class we just had a party while people could work on their costumes if they wanted to. I didn’t dress up this year so I didn’t have a costume to work on.

Programming (Elective): We didn’t have First Lego League this week because the Rec Center was booked with their Halloween party. It was a busy week so I didn’t work on any extra projects at home either.

Other: I’ve been figuring out how to play the Super Mario Bros theme song on the guitar.

Friday, October 26, 2018

Week 10

Language Arts: I wrote a book summary on the book we have been reading as part of my language arts lessons, Gabriel and the Hour Book. Part of the assignment was to make a fancy initial letter and a border since the booked talked a lot about the art of illumination. I finished reading Star Man’s Son and started on the second book. I did a TTRS lesson and also some lessons in my Dyslexia Workbook.

Math: In math class this week we had a test over some of the material. We also learned about  the different sorts of questions you can be asked from a graph, including equation, slope, y-intercept, area of the triangle formed by the line & the y/x-axis, perimeter of that triangle, and if two lines are parallel or perpendicular.

Science: In my chemistry class we learned about surface area and cohesion. We did the activity where you see how many drops you can fit on a penny, which demonstrates the ability of surface tension to hold water molecules together.

History: We listened to the next episode of the Podcast History of Our World. It was about Lagash vs Umma. One interesting thing is that they know some facts about this battle because they found historical carvings called the Stele of the Vultures that show vultures carrying off people’s heads as well as other scenes and there is also writing on some of the fragments.

Makerspace (Tech):  We did vinyl stickers again. I made a Flash symbol.

Programming (Elective): I have been having fun making PVC/pool noodle weapons. I have made quite a few but there is a picture of some of them. My siblings and my friend Heber and I like to have battles with them.

Other: My mom ordered an inflatable dinosaur costume and she let me be the first to try it out.

Week 9

Language Arts: I finished reading Unbroken. I started reading a book called Star Man’s Son. I was able to read the first two chapters for free on Kindle preview so I knew I would like it. I like reading on the Kindle because I can read at night in my bed without having to turn a light on. I also had a lesson on poetry and went over the keys to writing an effective paragraph. Reviewed the proper usage of the homophones petal/pedal, there/their/they’re and sail/sale, as well as when to drop or keep the E when adding the suffix “-able”.

Math: We didn’t have our class this week but I did work on the homework assignments. Fractions (add/subtract/multiply/divide), unit conversion, and solving equations with one variable.

Science: My brother and I made a density jar. We also watched videos on a couple of different topics and finished up our discussion on how things fly. I also made some mini rockets with match heads and aluminum foil. I did my science homework for my chemistry co-op class.

History: No history lesson this week.

Makerspace (Tech):  I made a vinyl sticker for my laptop. See picture below.

Programming (Elective): We had first lego league this week. I also did some hydrodipping at my home workbench. I dipped a christmas tree ornament and a water bottle. We got a new rotary tool (a Dremel but it isn’t dremel brand) with a lot of attachment tools. I am excited to do some projects with it. We ordered some special bits to use to etch/drill holes in rocks. It comes with some diamond bits but you only need those for very hard rocks.

Other: We went swimming. We went to the How I Became a Pirate play.

Week 8

Language Arts: My L. Arts program has some other stuff along with it, so this week I learned about the color wheel and painted a color wheel with watercolors (see below). I did sentence diagramming with adjectives and adverbs (see example below). I also reviewed capitalization rules for titles. I am still reading Unbroken. I also did lessons in my Dyslexia Workbook.

Math: We worked on unit conversion problems. We also did solving equations with a single variable and also some more fraction add/subtract review.

Science: We learned about covalent (sharing) and ionic bonds. We did Lewis Dot models for some of the different compounds.

History: We listened to the Podcast History of the World episode on the Epic of Gilgamesh. It is about Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu, and they go on adventures and fight monsters. It is interesting that this is a 4000 year old story. We talked about how it is a hero’s journey sort of story and how it has similarities with Star Wars and the Marvel superhero stories. We also watched the Crash Course Mythology episode about Gilgamesh.

Makerspace (Tech):  We got to bring home our concrete planters. I am not sure what plant I will get that can fit in there, maybe an air plant or a little cactus. We have been using it as a tea light candle holder for now.

Elective: This week I built a shelf for my longboard to hang on in the garage. You can see it in the picture below. I used some of the scrap wood I got from one of our neighbors.

Other: I made a Rubiks Cube out of perler beads. It has been so cold and wet I haven’t been able to ride my new longboard very much.

Week 7 Report

Language Arts: I did lessons in my Dyslexia Workbook. I read more of Unbreakable. Went over differences between THEY’RE/THERE/THEIR and MERRY/MARY/MARRY. Went over independent and dependent clauses and practiced identifying them. Reviewed the 4 types of sentences.Went over words to use in writing instead of “said”.

Math: We weren’t able to have math class with our tutor because he was in an accident. So I worked mostly on assignments from the textbook. We did get some assignments finally on Friday. One is on unit conversion and the other is solving for a single variable.

Science: In my co-op chemistry class we had a guest who came in and talked to us about chemicals that were used in bombs and also chemical warfare. He told us about how you check to see if something is really a bomb or not--there are certain chemicals you can check for.

History: We listened to the next episode of the podcast. The Sumerians had these clay balls that they would put tokens into that represented amounts of different things like crops and flocks. They used these for trade to make sure that everyone knew what the amount was supposed to be. But you had to break the clay envelopes to know what was inside, which kind of voided the trade contract, so they started stamping things on the outside. This was the earliest sort of writing that we know about.

Makerspace (Tech):  We poured our cement for our planters. We also took our molds that we made last week out of the mold. I made two Lego bricks. They are made out of a clear casting material, I’m not sure what it is called.

Programming (Elective): This week I practiced a painting technique on plastic. You spray some spray paint onto the water surface and then dip the plastic object into it. It looks pretty cool. I also had First Lego League. We worked on building a second duplicate robot of the robot I designed so we could work faster and we did a bit of programming as well.

Other: We ended up playing four basketball games at our tournament last Saturday. The tournament schedule wasn’t very well done so that was kind of frustrating. But it was good to get lots of game time. I got a new longboard this week.

Two of our cats came and walked and laid all over my lesson books on morning

Week 6

Language Arts: I did some vocabulary words. Came up with a list in my Writer’s Notebook for possible protagonists. My check out of the book Unbreakable ended but we did find the kindle so my mom bought the book so I can keep reading it. I reviewed when to use apostrophes. I did several lessons in my Workbook for Dyslexics.

Math: We didn’t have any special homework from Mr. Rosa, so we are just doing lessons in the Algebra 1 textbook this week. Lessons were on unit multipliers, absolute value, sets, and number lines.

Science: We learned about how wings make things fly. We learned that a drone can’t fly in a vacuum because it requires air, but a rocket doesn’t need air so it can fly in a vacuum (space). We flew our Star Wars drones which was really fun. In my co-op class we learned about the differences in the different groups and periods on the periodic table.

History: We listened to the next episode of the Podcast History of the World. This one was about the Neolithic Revolution and how agriculture changed things a lot for early humans. One interesting thing was that farmed food was not as nutritious as wild food, so people were shorter than the hunter/gatherer societies had been.

Makerspace (Tech):  We started working on our cement planter project. I am not sure if we will have a way to put a drainage hole in it but I guess we will see.

Programming (Elective): Worked on some of the missions at First Lego League. I also worked a little bit with tools on the workbench here at home. It was a pretty busy week so I didn’t have a lot of project time.

Other:  I am playing in a basketball tournament this weekend. One game on Friday and three on Saturday.

I'm #21

Week 5 Weekly Report

Week 5
Language Arts: I read more in Unbreakable but then I misplaced the Kindle I was reading on. Hopefully I will find it soon. I did writing exercises about the sounds of dinnertime and describing a painting of a mountain scene. I diagrammed sentences with adverbs and adjectives. I did a worksheet about identifying the different parts of speech in sentences, including noun/verb/adverb/article/preposition/noun/article. I started the Workbook for Dyslexia lessons. Hopefully it will help me build my spelling skills. I did TTRS.

Math: We did complicated fractions problems (addition/subtraction/multiplication and division all mixed into mega problems. We also did lessons 1-3 of Saxon Math Algebra. We also are memorizing the prefixes for the different scientific notation names, like giga, mega, pica, deci, centi, etc.

Science: We learned about the periodic table and the different groups of elements. We learned some about the different elements and are supposed to find some examples to take to class with us next week.

History: We listened to the Podcast History of our World episode 4 about the Stone Age. It talked about early Anatomically Modern Humans (AMH for short) and the things that have been found that they left behind, like sculptures and cave art. We looked up pictures of one of the oldest sculptures found, the Venus of Willendorf. My mom saw this one in a museum when she was in Austria. The archeologists don’t really know why these venus sculptures were carved, but a number of them have been found.

Makerspace (Tech):  We made silicone molds. The coloring we used got everywhere. It was fun to make, though. We are going to be making concrete planters.

Programming (Elective): I built a cool robot with the Lego Mindstorms set. It has tank tread sorts of things on the back for the wheels and regular wheels on the front. My friend and I decided we want to try and build a go-cart, so that will be fun to work on together.

Other: Basketball practice, also started working on specific skill drills with my dad. Guitar lessons.

Friday, September 14, 2018

Week 4

Language Arts: I went to the Dyslexia Center for an Assessment. We may do some tutoring there or we might just keep working on different things at home. My reading is at grade level but spelling is still really hard for me. This week I started reading Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand. I am liking it. I also did a writing exercise on words that convey sound.

Math: This was the first week with our math tutor. We learned about the different kinds of numbers (real, whole, integer, natural, rational, irrational) and also reviewed some pre-algebra concepts. There are 3 other kids besides my sister and I meeting with the tutor. We meet at our house.

Science: In chemistry we learned more about atomic structure and had to draw models of different atoms. I learned that isotopes have the same number of protons and electrons but different numbers of neutrons.

History: We listened to the next episode of The Podcast History of Our World. It was about the early hominids that first used fire and also talked some about tools. One interesting thing was the part about how humans might have evolved to have lighter skin in order to get enough Vitamin D.

Makerspace (Tech):  We worked on our notebooks for class. I am doing some paper weaving on my cover.

Programming (Elective): I didn’t work on programming this week. At First Lego League we are still mostly focusing on building. At home my friend and I sanded a board really smoothly, stained it, and drilled holes in it to make a rope swing. We still aren’t sure where we will hang it up though.

Other: I had basketball practice. At our youth activity this week we played broom hockey which was pretty fun. My twin brother and sister turned 6 on Tuesday and my cat Bandit turned 6 on Thursday.

This is the podcast we listened to this week

Weekly Report, Weeks 1-3

Language Arts: I started my language arts coursebook. Reviewed some of the parts of speech. I finally finished the book The Martian. I liked it. I want to see the movie because I haven’t seen it.

Math: I have been reviewing a few things, like fractions, before starting with my math tutor. Also just practiced math facts.

Science: We went to the Natural History Museum of Utah. It was interesting. They had an exhibit about the mechanics and physics behind different animal adaptations. There was a cool thing where you could try flapping with two different wing shapes to see how they behaved differently. The short, broader wing got you moving quickly but took a lot of effort to stay going. The longer, more thin wing was slower to get going but stayed going with less effort. I am doing a chemistry class for co-op and we learned about matter. We also calculated density.

History: We listened to the first two episodes of The Podcast History of our World. The first one was about creation stories and also the Big Bang. The second one was about the evolution of early humans and mentioned how human ancestors might have come down from the trees because of global warming at that time, which made the forests more sparse. I also have a co-op history class called We Didn't Start the Fire and we talked about communism, socialism, and Doris Day.

Makerspace (Tech):  We made name badges at Makerspace with little lights on them. We also just did the introduction stuff because it was the first week.

Programming (Elective): At First Lego League we made the different missions. I also built a color sorter. I am helping TA a Lego Robotics class at our homeschool co-op. We cleaned out the workbench area in the garage so I can work on projects there. My first project is made out of PVC pipe and tee shirts--it is a cat bed/hideaway. Some of my projects will have programming involved, too, I’m just not sure what they will be yet.

Other: We went on a field trip to the Young Living Lavender Farm and got a tour of the distillery. It was really smelly and kind of gave me a headache. It was cool to see how they get the oils out of the plants and bark though.

Week 35 5/18/2018 Weekly Report

Language Arts - I finished adding the dress ups for my Goldilocks story. I watched the
final lesson on Disc 2 of IEW Student Writing Intensive B. I did a keyword outline of the
story of the salt peddler and the donkey. I read some more in The Martian.

Math - I started chapter 7 which is percents. I learned how to find what percent of a number
another number is, and how to calculate a certain percent of a number.

Makerspace - We prepared for the Maker showcase and worked on cleaning up the
Makerspace. Monday night we had the showcase.

Art - I started to do a pencil picture. I’m drawing storm clouds.

Science - In Uzinggo I learned about lunar and solar eclipses. A lunar eclipse is when the
earth’s shadow blocks out the moon, and a solar eclipse is when the moon blocks out the
sun. A lunar eclipse happens at night and a solar eclipse happens during the day. A solar
eclipse can only be seen from a certain part of the world along a fairly narrow path, whereas
a lunar eclipse can be seen by half the world at a time. Our mold terrariums are really gross
and moldy. We are keeping them for one more week and then will throw them away, as it will
have been a month. We also watched science videos a couple of times at lunch this week.

Other - I have my last game for Bantam basketball league for March league play.

Week 33 5/4/2018 Weekly Report

Language Arts - This week I used the Story Structure Outline to do an outline of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and then I used that to write up my own version of the story. We spent some time editing it and will finish it next week. I also had a spelling lesson. I finally got back to reading The Martian as I haven’t had much time to read it the past couple weeks. Did my TTRS lessons.

Math - More with rates and proportions and graphing them and calculating unit rate. I started the review of Chapter 6. Also did some Hands On Equations 3.

Makerspace - My stuff came to work on my final project. I also went to the open lab day to get some more time to work on it.

Art - Still working on my rose. So many petals to do.

Science - We checked our mold terrariums. My one in the fridge is not moldy at all. The ones out of the fridge are starting to mold--especially the orange slice.

Other - My best friend’s birthday was this week so I got to go to his party. I also had a one on one practice with my basketball coach. That was really helpful and I played really good in the game on Saturday. We ended up losing by 3 but I felt good about how I played.

Week 32 4/27/2018 Weekly Report

Language Arts - I finished my retelling of the Lion and the Shepherd story and I typed up some and my mom typed up some. I had a spelling lesson. I had the last week of co-op and in my Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens class we played a review game.

Math - I worked on rates and proportions, including graphing them and different ways to solve. I also did some Hands On Equations 3.

Makerspace - My project supplies hadn’t arrived so I couldn’t really do anything. I just kind of hung out.

Art - Still working on my garden rose. I worked on more petals. There are like 30 petals so it takes a while to get them all done.

Science - Biology - in my class this week we learned about stimulus and response. We did an activity where the teacher had a bunch of foods in a bag and would pull one out and observed what our responses were. For example, she would pull out some candy and some people got really excited. She pulled out broccoli and some people liked it but some people didn’t it.
Mystery science - we learned about the importance of decomposes and made a mold terrarium inside of. Plastic bag. We can observe it over a couple of weeks and see what the mold grows on and how fast.

Other - I had a basketball game on Saturday. We didn’t win but my coach was pleased that I was playing more aggressively. We also got to go see Avengers: Infinity War on Friday. My mom is a big Marvel fan so we were all pretty excited about it. I also got to go on a campout with the 11 year old scouts. They invited the older boys and one of my best friends is in that group so it was fun to go on a campout with him.

Week 31 4/20/2018 Weekly Report

Language Arts - I am still reading The Martian. I did the next lesson in IEW Student Writing Intensive B. It was about stories and the different parts of a story. We used the story of the Shepherd and the Lion for our example. I finished the first paragraph retelling of it and will do the second and third paragraphs next week. I also did TTRS and had a spelling lesson.

Math - I finished the Chapter 5 review in Math Mammoth. I did some Hands On Equations 3. I started the next chapter in in Math Mammoth, and am now in 7B. It is on rates and ratios.

Makerspace - I came up with my capstone project idea and ordered the materials. I am going to make some lasercut wooden framed sunglasses.

Art - At art class I am still working on my rose. I painted the petals this week.

Science - In Mystery Science class we learned about what plants “eat” and did an experiment with balloons to show that air actually has weight. It was important to blow up the balloons and THEN deflate the ones on one side, because when you blow up a balloon you are adding a bit of moisture from the saliva in your mouth and blowing up the ones before you deflate them helps balance that out in all the balloons. We learned that General Sherman, the largest sequoia tree, “eats” about 4 lbs of air a day. It’s pretty amazing that plants take the carbon from the air and turn it into STUFF.

In my biology class we learned about homeostasis. We did some experiments with our own bodies and balancing on one foot. Some people had a hard time doing it but I was pretty good at it and never fell over. We also measured how quickly our hearts would go back to resting rate after exercising. It took me 5 seconds, which was the fastest time.

In Uzinggo I learned about the life cycle of stars. They start out as a nebula and then that nebula compacts into the start of a star and it keeps growing and growing and eventually turns into either a Red Giant or a White Dwarf. Red Giants eventually explode and can turn into a black hole.

Other - I had basketball practice and I have a game on Saturday.

Week 30 4/13/2018 Weekly Report

Language Arts - This week I read more of The Martian. I also had a spelling lesson, did TTRS, and had a discussion with my mom about the differences and similarities between the book Ready Player One and the movie adaptation. Most of the story details were different because all of the challenges (gates & keys) were very different in the movie than in the book, but the main characters and the main events of the book were the same.

Math - I finished up Chapter 5 in Math Mammoth 7A and am working on the chapter review. It was more on slope and lines. I also did some Hands On Equations 3.

Makerspace - We are supposed to figure out what we are doing for our final project but I didn’t have any ideas at class so i didn’t have much to work on. I think I am going to do something with charging  a battery either manually or solar or something though.

Art - I worked more on my rose garden painting. Probably have another week or two before I finish it, though.

Science - In my Mystery Science class we learned about food chains and how you can ask the questions “What does it eat?” and “What eats it?” whenever you see an organism in an area and that can help you discover more about the area and the organism. We played a food chain card game. In my biology class we learned about life cycles.

Other - I had a scout campout Friday/Saturday. I did the rifleman merit badge so I got to shoot a .22 rifle. It was fun, but harder than I thought to aim and get good shots off. I also had basketball practice twice this week and a game Saturday night. It was a close game and we were ahead the first half but ended up losing by two points. Also this week we went on a field trip to the California Pizza Kitchen which was fun and the pizzas we got to make were good.
