Week 17

Language Arts: I finished up the mind maps lessons on Udemy. The videos reviewed the content that the earlier lessons had covered. Next week I will be starting a writing program that I will work on for the next couple months.

Math:This week I did the two practice tests. I did pretty good. On the second one I had a couple of dumb mistakes, like I left off the label on one and forgot to round on another one.

History: This week I learned about the English Bill of Rights. This was put into place after James II was ousted by his daughter and son-in-law.

Science: I learned more about buoyancy. I also did some calculations to see how to determine if something will float or not.

Welding: We finallky got a new shipment of metal and so a lot of time was spent moving metal around the shop. We did a new kind of welding that has the coating built in and also uses the gas on the welder (usually you only have one or the other) so it is extra smooth. I think it’s called dual shield welding or something like that.

Sports Conditioning: Mostly did a lot of weights because lots of the guys are in basketball and so we do plenty of running during practice. Also we had a sub most of the week so it was kind of just “work out on your own” time instead of planned exercises.

Drone: Canvas class.

Week 16

Language Arts: This week I did a couple of different practice mind maps. One was for the story of the tortoise and the hare and one was for a section of a science book. It was good to practice doing them, as it helped me notice what things were tricky for me to remember.

Math: I did more work with limits. Learned about statistics basics and calculating probability. Took Quiz 7 and started reviewing for the first exam.

History: Learned about the people who left the Massachusetts Bay Colony and started other colonies in the area. Like Roger Williams who started the Providence colony, for example.

Science: I learned about buoyancy and how to calculate it mathematically. If something weighs less than the water/air it is displacing then that object will float.

Welding; I finished my T joint. Starting to work on my butt joint now.

Sports Conditioning: This week was max week, so we mostly did lifting. I also have basketball practice everyday now for two hours.

Drone: Canvas class. I finished my test flights.
