Week 36

L. Arts: One of my assignments this week was to write as much nonsense as I could for 10-15 minutes. The goal was for it to not really make any sense at all. It was kind of a weird assignment.

Math: I took a quiz. I did lessons. One of the lessons was on reflecting functions across the x and y axis. It is kind of confusing so mom has been helping me understand it. I understand it better now but I am not good at memorizing equations so I can’t do them very easily yet.

Science: In science I learned about alternating current and direct current. With AC current the current fluctuates from negative and positive in pluses but DC does not. Also how some houses get their power from wires underground and some have wires attached to there roof.
History: History was about the second industrial revolution. It was a lot about how some companies were monopolizing certain industries. Like the Standard Oil Company who bought out all their competition, there was also Andrew Carnegie who made the Carnegie Steel Company and he owned the steel mills, the mines and the transportation for it so he didn’t have to pay anyone.
Welding: I had to do a quiz about welding terms. I did it on canvas. We could take up to three tries to get all the problems right and I did it in two tries.

Drone: I did my closeup video and turned it in. Canvas class.

Sports Conditioning (PE): I finished watching Supersize me. I answered all the questions and turned in the assignment. We went on a hike to Lost Creek Falls. My mom and dad also took my older sister and I up to Squaw Peak for the sunset since they had taken the younger kids last week. Then we got tacos and Crumbl cookies.

Mom took a picture of my sister and I taking pictures of the sunset at Squaw Peak

We had a marshmallow roast and made s'mores.

A little cave along the trail to Lost Creek Falls. Mom said it was a little cave, I said
it was barely a hole.

Week 35

L. Arts: my language arts lessons this week were about getting help. You can also help yourself with your writing by reading it out loud. It can help to take a bit of a break after writing and then come back to it.

Math: Took the quiz on Monday. Learning about functions and how to identify the graphs of different functions. Also how to shift functions around on the graph and how that looks on the equation.

Science: Still doing work on my house model. Also learning about electric circuits. Today I learned about open and closed circuits. Building my house is pretty fun, I like all the small parts that I get to put together.
History: It was about the Trans continental railroad. It talked about how two train companies were subsidized by the government so they could build the railroad. The construction mostly relied on cheap immigrant labor. The construction of the railroad led to a boom in the population of the west.
Welding: I did my at home weld. I used melted chocolate and graham crackers.

Drone: I took my close up drone pics for the next assignment. Canvas class.

Sports Conditioning (PE): Our assignment for this week and next week is to watch the documentary supersize me and answer some questions about it. I watched the first 30 minutes and answer the questions that went along with that part of the video.
We went to the Provo Classic Car Cruise on Saturday

weeks ago when we had the Supermoon.
We didn't get pictures added to the last blog.

Week 33-34

Language arts: This week I just had to write a paper for my sports conditioning class. I did one Writing Course lesson as well. The lesson was on to writing in your own unique voice.

Science: did more work to my model house. Also did some experiments with static electricity

Math: learned more about the identification of functions. Also had some review from earlier lessons.

History:learned about the reconstruction after the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln had a plan to reconcile the country and make it whole again but then he was shot and the plan was thrown off course when the new president was elected.

Sports conditioning:just had to write a paper and record some physical activity. I did more bike rides this week and a lot of time on the trampoline.

Welding:none. We have an assignment to do some “at home welding” with some sort of medium (Mr. Money used cheese whiz and crackers). I need to do it still.
